Freediver level 1
The SSI Freediver course equips students with the essential skills and knowledge to safely engage in recreational freediving independently with a buddy.
The course is divided into three primary phases:
- Knowledge development on fundamental freediving principles.
- Confined water sessions to master breath-hold techniques, as well as static and dynamic apnea.
- Open water sessions to practice free immersion and constant weight freedives, along with proper buddy procedures and rescue techniques.
The course aims for students to attempt static apnea, achieve a dynamic apnea distance of 30 meters, and perform a constant weight freedive to depths of 10-20 meters.

After successful course completion you will receive a digital certification card.
Course schedule
Day 1
2:00 PM Welcome Meeting
After meeting with instructor you will sign the required paperwork in order to start the course.
2:15 PM Theory Session
Academic session (freediving equipment, physiology of freediving, skills).
4:00 PM Breath-hold Session
Relaxation and breath-hold practice in the classroom.
5:00 PM Confined Water Session
Static apnea practice (relaxation, breath-hold, urge to breathe, recovery breathing). Dynamic apnea practice (neutral buoyancy, entry, finning technique, turn). Rescue procedures.
7:00 PM Debrief
Day 2
8:30 AM Open Water Session
Setting surface buoyancy. Practice equalization with free immersion. Constant weight finning and body position to a depth of 10 meters.
12:00 PM Lunch Break
3:00 PM Theory Session
Academic session (mammalian diving reflex, freediving skills, rescue procedures, underwater environment).
5:00 PM Debrief
Day 3
8:30 AM Open Water Session
Practice constant weight, buddy and rescue procedures.
10:30 AM Open Water Session
Practice constant weight.
